The 2019 Arkansas International Pageant was held April 5-7, in Maumelle, AR. I represented West Central Arkansas along with my husband, Jacob. I know many of you have been following my journey, so I wanted to keep you all updated on how the weekend went. This was my first Mrs. pageant to compete in. I knew a couple of the other ladies beforehand and got to know all the others over the weekend. Meeting new people and making new connections is one of my favorite things about pageantry.
I arrived in Maumelle on Thursday evening to get everything unloaded and situated before pageant weekend started Friday morning. On Friday, we had orientation in the morning where we were told our schedule for the weekend and drew for our contestant number. I drew #3 out of 8. Next was lunch at one of the local restaurants before we all headed back to the hotel to prepare for interview. Interview started that afternoon and we had 5 minutes with each of the 5 judges. I love interview because I am able to show them who I really am and share my platform and story with the judges. After interview, we headed to the auditorium for a late night of rehearsals.
Since the Mrs. contestants start a day earlier than the other divisions, Saturday is a very relaxing day for us. We had lunch together at another local restaurant, the afternoon to spend with our husband, and dinner together as a group. After dinner was another night of late rehearsals with our husbands joining us.
Sunday was finals day! My friends and family came from all over the state to cheer me on. We competed in On Stage Presentation / Questions, Fitness Wear, and Evening Gown with our husband escorting us. In the end, I placed 1st runner-up and won fitness as well as received the crowd favorite award. This was a very big learning experience for me and I am so glad to have met each of the other women. We even have our own FaceBook group now to stay connected!
